The numbers I'll put my name on.

I was Purple's original Director of Marketing and helped grow it from the early days to $300M+ in yearly sales and a public company.

I led the team building Unified Measurement, which combines multi-touch attribution, media mix modeling and incrementality. I also helped build Clicks & Views.

Purple

I was the first marketing hire. Director of Marketing, then Director of YouTube, Search & Display, April 2016 to July 2018.

I'd be at a conference and someone would ask where I worked. Purple. Blank stare. Then I'd say Goldilocks smashing eggs and their face would change. They knew the video. They had no idea what we sold.

The brand didn't show up until about two minutes in. Average watch time was a minute and 31 seconds. So I put the logo in the bottom right, where people look for the skip button. Nothing else in the video changed. It had already been running about 18 months.

Viewers searched "purple mattress" 2,824% more than the hold-out.

The Purple Pillow Kickstarter was the 42nd most-funded Kickstarter at the time. We imported those orders so the site didn't open on an empty review page.

I went back from May to September 2026 as VP Marketing & Demand Gen.

I walked through the logo test at Resonate in 2019. The Pillow story is on Unofficial Shopify.

Groove Life

I laid the whole YouTube playbook out at Ezra Firestone's Blue Ribbon Mastermind. I'll tell you everything, because 99.9% of people will never go try it.

Peter did. The Groove Life founder walked up next to me in the bathroom and said he was going all in.

The hook that kickstarted the growth was shot in-house. Low production. A question. "Have you seen this ring?"

Consultant from 2018, then CMO from October 2019 to August 2021. $3M to $50M+.

I told the longer version on Unofficial Shopify in 2025.

You don't need a Harmon Brothers budget to start. You need a product, and a question people stop for.

Ozlo

Head of Marketing & Growth, March 2023 to 2026.

We raised over $8M across Kickstarter and Indiegogo before the general launch. Indiegogo wrote up how we used InDemand to keep pre-orders moving into ecommerce: their case study.

Rocky Shah, our CEO, called it the #1 InDemand campaign of all time. He said it on CEO.com. He's also the one who put the commercial result at $20M+ revenue, 80K+ units sold, and a $50M run rate, and said we 10x'd sales in under 90 days after launch. That's on his intro.co bio.

We owned about 50% of the Amazon sleep-headphone category... and our off-Amazon ads grew the whole category, not just our share.

The wasted-spend audit

I sat across from the CEO of a public company. He asked me, pretty calmly, how they had spent $396K+ to make $42K.

I pulled the Search Query Report on their wifi. Over 288,000 queries from that year, and they were losing money on them. It took a couple of minutes to load.

I checked the box. Selected all of them. Added them as negatives, so we'd stop showing up for those searches. Once it processed, that was the $396K+ they didn't have to spend on those queries again.

He almost fell out of his chair. "Wait, that's all it would have taken?"

I wrote it up in 2016: You Don't Know What You Don't Know.

You don't know what you don't know.

Regular price $3,333. Q4 special $1,777 through Nov 15.

$1,777 is my Q4 special through Nov 15. Then it goes back to $3,333.

Pattern

Head of Advertising, July 2018 to March 2019. That's where CABN came from. Conquest, Awareness, Brand, Non-Brand. One job per campaign, so the budget argument stays clean.

Paid traffic drives sales velocity. Sales velocity is what feeds organic rank. I don't name the Pattern clients.
